IMPORTANCE OF LOGO DESIGN

Purpose

Corporate logos are intended to be the “face” of a company: They are graphical displays of a company’s unique identity, and through colors, fonts and images they provide essential information about a company that allows customers to identify with the company’s core brand. Logos are also a shorthand way of referring to the company in advertising and marketing materials; they provide a standard and a unified focus for the various fonts, colors and design choices in all other business marketing materials.

Design Principles

Good logos should be unique and comprehensible to potential customers.  Although there are myriad choices for color, visual elements and typography, generally a logo design should help convey some information about the company, or be designed in a way that gives a sense of the company or industry.  For example, angular logos convey a sense of a modern, high-tech, or efficient product or system.  Rounded logos are often used by service oriented businesses who want to convey a sense of comfort, service, and trust.  Other options to consider include monogramming, a play on letters, an icon, or an abstract design.

Brand Identity

Building brand identity begins with a logo, but continues to every aspect of an advertising campaign.  A logo is the chief visual component of a company’s overall brand identity.  The logo appears on signs, websites, business cards and other forms of advertising.  For that reason, a well-designed logo can contribute to success, while a substandard logo design can turn off potential customers.  The logo must also coordinate with all other aspects of a company’s visual presentation.  Clean graphics and consistent fonts along with a well-designed logo will tie a branding scheme together.  Thus, a logo is the basic unit of a larger brand identity that includes company fonts, colors and a branding style guide with target colors and spacing requirements.

Return on Investment

As consumers grow to know, like and trust a specific brand, they are more likely to respond positively to successive encounters with a logo, potentially leading to increased sales or improved mind share within the target market.  In addition, just like lettering a vehicle instead of using a magnet, a well-designed logo implies a degree of professionalism and competence that could help steer potential new clients toward selecting the business rather than a competitor with no or substandard signs and logos.

DO YOU NEED YOUR LOGO IN A VECTORED FORMAT OR MADE HIGHER RESOLUTION?

Sticky's Graphics can take your logo from a business card or website, vectorize it, and provide it to you in a number of higher resolution formats overnight!  If you need .eps, .pdf, or .ai vectored files for any reason, give us a call now for fast service.  Why vectored artwork? See the difference between Vectored and Rastered images.

Professional logos are usually designed in vector-based programs, like Adobe Illustrator; however, many people who design their own logo use Publisher, Word or other simple programs that save a low quality rastered logo.  Vector graphics are made up of points and paths that represent the image on the computer. Pixel based graphics (often called raster or bitmap) are made of individual bits, or pixels that represent the image on the computer.

So what’s the benefit of having a vector-based logo?

Vector based images can be scaled by any amount without losing quality of the image. This is essential with logo design since it will be used in a vast number of formats and variety of sizes. You want your logo to look as crisp and clear on your vehicle or banner as it does on your business card and other printed material.

Pixel based images do not enlarge well. The quality is lost and you will usually get a blurry image.  In addition, everything on the web is low resolution (72dpi), so if you copy your logo off your web site it will not be good enough for print.

Why use Signs for Success to vectorize your logo?

Signs for Success not only turns it around fast for you, but we talk to you directly so that even minor shape or color changes can happen now instead of taking days or weeks.  You get to speak to a real person, and we care enough to help you get what you want.  Most logos can be vectorized for a flat fee of $48, and once we see what you want to vectorize, we can tell you if it fits in the flat fee or requires more design time to recreate.  Approximately 95% of the logos we vectorize fall into the “flat fee” category.  Just give us a call and we’ll help you take the next step! GOLD AND SILVER LEAF

When considering the look you want to achieve with your vinyl lettering the premium in lettering is gold leaf. Gold leaf lettering is 22k-23k real gold making the product as real as it gets. Through the manufacturing process the vinyl film is coated with a thin layer of gold. Obviously since gold is a precious metal it is very expensive to get gold leaf vinyl lettering, however if that is the look you are going for gold leaf will last well over 10 years. Some popular places you will see gold leaf lettering includes traditional lettering such as fire trucks and antique vehicles and store fronts.

This is not real gold leaf, but a very close match to the real thing. Real gold leaf is very expensive, while the vinyl we are offering is a economical alternative.BACK TO TOP
